It’s in 1844 that M. Leopold Dousset leaves his native village of Couvignon to settle in Verzenay.

He was then a wine grower worker, he decided to buy with his savings the Dousset’s family still.

Brandy was at the time very appreciated with workers, it allows the Dousset’s family to buy two other stills.

Eugene Dousset, son of Leopold and father of Louis Dousset continues to develop his brandy’s sales, he goes all the way to the south of France to distill fruits from Provence.

Thanks to profitable commerce, the Dousset’s family invests in fell priced parcel of vineyard. Due to the annihilation of the vineyard by philoxera in the beginning of century.


Louis Dousset will develop his two activities until 1976 for only taking care of Champagne.

In 1990, the farm was getting some new vineyards, an area of more than 4.5 Hectares and got a capacity of auto-production of more than 25 000 bottles per year.

To face a strong demand and an increasing consumption, the family business needs to develop.

In 1998, Jean-Roch Floquet, grandson of Louis Dousset takes the high-powered of the company, he wants to benefit from the Champagnes, the respect of the Champenoise tradition and new technology of wine making.

By only getting supply with limited wines, the House of Louis Dousset has resolutely modern style for the consuption and tasting of Champagne.
