The Tasting
The Glasses
Glasses in which one drinks Champagne must answer by their elegance with his image of prestige while making it possible to assess all the qualities of the wine.
Ideal glass must be smooth and transparent to be able to appreciate the "work of the wine". Its form must be functional because it will influence the release of the bubbles.
The flute, by the height of its column is favourable with the visual examination of the wine. It is thus appropriate well for Champagne, insofar as this one is sufficiently open.
The cut is as for it indefensible : foam is formed there badly and does not hold, the bouquet disperses.
Since 1930, one uses Champagne glass called also glass tulip (Tulip Shaped Glass).
It is rather vast glass and lengthened enough so that one can admire the bubbles and foam. It is rather open so that tasting possible and is tightened enough so that the bouquet is concentrated but also developed, which will allow an acceleration of the filters of air.
